There is not much scientific or medical opposition against following an anti-inflammatory diet to treat Guillain barre syndrome (GBS). This is given that the diet is healthy, and the types of foods included are beneficial and have anti-inflammatory properties.
However, many professionals believe that additional scientific research and evidence are needed in order to confirm that the anti-inflammatory diet can relieve AIDP / CIDP symptoms.
Supporters of the anti-inflammatory diet to treat AIDP / CIDP believe that the anti-inflammatory diet is effective in relieving the related symptoms due to the fact that inflammation is an important trait that accompanies this condition.
There are numerous statements and medical evidences as well supporting the fact that an anti-inflammatory diet can actually help in relieving AIDP / CIDP symptoms.
This is also reinforced by the fact that replacing high fat, high sugar, processed and refined foods by fresh and wholefoods that are consumed in the anti-inflammatory diet can actually decrease inflammation, which in turn can reduce the AIDP / CIDP symptoms.
The opponents of the anti-inflammation diet to treat AIDP / CIDP agree that foods included in this diet have actually shown anti-inflammatory effects by decreasing CRP and other inflammatory markers.
However, according to them, this doesn’t conclude that the anti-inflammatory diet can really prevent or relieve the symptoms of AIDP / CIDP.
Opponents of the diet also claim that there’s not enough research and detailed data in particular about this matter. Accordingly, they find it challenging to believe that certain foods can really treat some medical conditions and diseases such as AIDP / CIDP.
Subsequently, many professionals still believe that additional scientific research and evidence are needed in order to confirm that the anti-inflammatory diet can relieve AIDP/CIDP symptoms, since very few exist at the moment.
Currently, there’s ongoing research on this matter in order to come up with final and better evidence to understand how all this works.
