This video from “The Doctors” T.V. show, presents the perspective of some physicians who don’t believe in the alkaline diet, and try to explain why it is wrong. However, they are committing 2 fallacies in their presentation. First, they are considering some example of acidic food such as lemon and grape fruits, which are actually acidic but do actually promote an alkaline environment in the body. Second, they are measuring the saliva pH directly after eating. This is also another fallacy, as they need to allow for the “clearance time” to measure the saliva pH. Check out our section on alkaline diet misconceptions to understand more about these fallacies.
