Homeopathy precautions
Homeopathic medicines are relatively safe to use. However, if you want to use homeopathy to treat a particular condition, you should consider the following precautions:
- Always consult your homeopathic doctor before taking homeopathic medicines on your own. Tell them about a particular illness, allergy, or if you are taking medication that may affect your treatment plan. They should adjust your homeopathic medicines to avoid any harmful interactions with the conventional medication you are taking.
- For your safety, make sure to disclose to your primary healthcare physician that you are seeing a homeopathic doctor and are taking homeopathic medicines. Some homeopathic pills and tinctures might interact with your conventional medication, causing serious side effects.
- Don’t stop taking your conventional medication by yourself if you are taking homeopathic medicines.
- Consult a homeopathic doctor before taking any homeopathic medicines if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Some pregnant or breastfeeding women should not take certain herbs or herbal preparations in the first three months of pregnancy or breastfeeding unless they are supervised by a homeopathic doctor.
- Always take the homeopathic medication exactly as prescribed by your homeopathic doctor. Do not lower or exceed the dose of your medication by yourself as this can have adverse health effects.
- Don’t make homeopathic remedies at home. Always get your homeopathic pills from a verified or licensed pharmacy or supplier whether you are buying them online or in person.
- Consult a conventional doctor or homeopathic doctor before giving children under the age of 12 homeopathic medications, especially if they have a chronic health condition or allergies.
- Consult a conventional doctor after taking homeopathic medicine if there is no change in your condition or your symptoms get worse.
WARNING:
- The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not approve homeopathic medicines.
- Some homeopathic medicines may be toxic if they are not prepared correctly or contain alcohol. Homeopathic medicines that are diluted with alcohol are not suitable for children.
- Some homeopathic preparations contain toxic heavy metals like arsenic. If they are prepared or used improperly, they may cause heavy metal poisoning.
