What science says about Glutathione For Longevity / Live Longer and Healthier

Glutathione benefits for longevity is a highly debatable topic among different scientists and healthcare experts.

On one end, supporters of glutathione believe it can increase the lifespan and help people live longer and healthier by protecting the body cells against oxidative stress, which prevents cells damage. As a result, cells remain healthy and live for a longer period of time, plus they can better regenerate.

This is suggested to increase longevity and reverse the biological age of the person, thus allowing people to live longer and healthier.

Dr. Caitlin Fanning, ND, Naturopathic doctor and women’s health specialist, strongly suggests taking glutathione for anti-aging as it “helps prevent disease through protecting cells from damage”. “Glutathione protects our cells and tissues from free radicals. It helps recycle Vitamin C + Vitamin E, other primary antioxidants. This helps with healing and recovery of damaged tissues and reduces oxidative stress.”

Additionally, Dr. Robert Keller, MD, Oncology, Immunology, and Hematology Specialist, suggests that glutathione “has a great deal to do with not only well-being, but aging well, or if you will, retarding the aging process”.

Nevertheless, Dr. David Sinclair, A.O, Ph.D, Biology of Aging Research, suggests that “antioxidants have been really unsuccessful at lengthening the lifespan of anything, even a worm, it doesn’t work that well”. He believes that longevity is more than just free radical damage.

Experts need to tap into our body’s natural defenses against aging. These 3 sets of defenses that he believes in are: MTOR (mammalian target of rapamycin) protein, responds to fasting, the second being AMPK (activated protein kinase), responds to low energy and lack of sugar, and the third is Sirtuins genes, respond to multiple things such as exercise, adversity and other. These are considered to be promising targets in slowing down the aging process.
